I don’t want to say “big words’ but the linseed oil is the “king” of all oils , maybe the most significant of all natural finishes and in my opinion , gives the most beautiful finishing result of ALL the woodworking finishes .
Yes , as you may suspect , im a big fan of the linseed oil , not saying i’m a “crazy fanatic” fan of it .
The combinations using the linseed oil as an ingredient are countless , are beyond imagination .
It’s a sealer , it’s a primer , it’s a filler , it’s a refresher , it’s a under coat , it’s an upper coat and the list is going to another galaxy !!!!!!!
See in THIS extremely “ecstatic” post from me all the info that i know and don’t know(!) , for linseed oil .
So let’s see some of the most top – classical – traditional and general use linseed oil products to get from the markets .
The Winsor & Newton Artisan linseed oil .
The Wilson and Newton is one of the most best and classical artistic linseed oil sin the markets and i don’t think there is a colorist amateur or not , who doesn’t know it .
The quality is the appropriate and very high , for the artistic and “surgical” highly demanding job it should do , for the painters and the job they want to do .
Of course you should know that this type of linseed oil dries very slowly and it’s a basic thinner for the colorist’s colors and needs .
Of course it can be used from all and not only the painters , it’s just that the painters are very strict and demand a perfect material for their artstic use .
It helps the matte finish for your wood and the color – shade it gives to wood is from “another planet “. This brand is well known and trusted by all and it makes this linseed oil from the best quality’s flaxseeds .
It’s in the 250ml bottle and you can take it from Amazon in here .
The Sunnyside Pure Raw linseed oil .
I highly recommend you to have at least one piece of a pure linseed oil , along with your boiled one , even if the pure linseed oil , dries very slow and this makes people stressed .
The pure linseed oil with zero chemicals and solvents which help the quicker drying , is a best wood finish for the wooden materials we use and tough daily .
I suggest you to use pure for your indoors and make combinations with pure waxes and more and have the boiled one for the outdoors .
More info for the linseed oil to the above post at the beginning of the post and for more combination details go to THIS article .
This pure linseed oil from Sunnyside , is a top quality one and it’s not only for raw wood , but all your wood projects . It’s very popular and it’s not randomly .
The results are very elite ones and “don’t be scared” to wait for the drying . The beautiness is extremely high .
You’ll get it with the 32oz can and take it from the Amazon here. The price is reasonable ( 20$ ) , for the quality .
The Sunnyside Boiled linseed oil .
Having the same manufacturer quality approach as the previous pure linseed oil , this it the boiled version and it’s a basic one .
Literally the boiled linseed oil isn’t boiled , but it contains solvents and other factors for quicker drying times and the drying is trully way faster than the pure’s one .
Of course it may be truly boiled , but not so often .
This Sunnyside boiled linseed oil is an excellent protection – finishing for your outdoor wood plans , but not only . If you like you can use to all your creations , but you should have good air ventilation , till the solvents evaporate .
The drying time is around the 12 – 18 hours and this depends for many factors as your wood type , your area you live , weather , et.c . But it dries way faster than the pure linseed .
I’ve waited to completely dry a small wooden desk i’ve showed you in a couple of my videos , for 3 or 4 whole months !!!!! From Christmas to Easter .
Take it from the Amazon with free shipping in some cases in here .
The Rustins Boiled linseed oil .
Another very good quality’s and great reputation boiled linseed oil is thi from the British Rustins and it comes in the 300 ml can .
I’ve used this only once , but i remember it had the right color and the “work” he did with the wood , was very nice . Rustins says that it’s suitable to apply in raw wood and there right , but you can do this with all your linseed oil types .
You sand wood , if you like and in the grade you want . I personally when i use linseed oil , i want the wood pores to be totally open so i sand with the roughest sandpaper and leave it as it is .
I don’t refine it with lighter ones . For all oils you use a cloth or a natural brush .
Make your final checks and take this UK linseed oil from Amazon here .
Your artistic – antique , indoor and outdoor nees will be covered having some of the above recomendations , but if you like to see the entire range of the linseed oil brands on Amazon go HERE .
Keep woodworking and happiness will follow .
