If you want to seperate your wood’s fibers , very accurate , very easy and quit fast , using a little physical force , the splitting fore , is a woodowrking tools you should have .
It isn’t an expensive one , it’s a very simple tool , but it helps the most any carpenter . It has many advantages and one quit big disadvantage – restriction .
See all the necessary info and the way to use a splitting froe , in HERE .
It’s very easy to find a very cheap frow in the flea markets and having a long with a shorter one is the ideal situation i think , but this depends rom the wood you’re splitting .
This from Amazon is a decent froe with a nice anodized steel alloy and a hardwood for a handle . It isn’t expensive , even if it isn’t super cheap .
Anodized or not , always protect your blade from rust especially when its finishing will go away , from the first times of use and the maul hittings .
It’s a 15″ froe with a 2″ blade and 3+ lbs weight . Get it from Amazon here .
I use this kind of froes , but many of mine are old vintage ones and i’ll give you a suggestion for this type of froes .
Keep woodworking and stay safe .
