The spokeshave in woodworking is a hand tool that allows you to do wood shaping in all the variety of your wooden surfaces , no matter how difficult and “strange” designs they’ve got .
It has the cutting approach of the plane , but it’s very versatile and can do more .

There are some very classical spokeshaves in the markets , which i suggest you to consider having them and let me show you some .
This Stanley 151 is a must and a classical flat spokeshave and i don’t think there is a woodworker who hasn’t heard or work with it .
The general craftsmanship and the solidity of this spokeshave is well known and there is no questions for the quality in here . It’ll come to you sharpen ready , but if you like you can bring it to your measures more .
The screws , the adjustment screws , the finishing of the metal and the “marriage” of all of its parts are strict solid and the feeling is amazing in the hand . And it doesn’t cost a fortune .

This Faithfull set of 2 spokeshaves is a very good one in the area f the 50$ . It’s a concave and a convex spokeshaves , very solid from malleable iron and well machined .
The blade’s width is 52mm and it’ll need a little sharpening and adjustment work from you , to bring it to your preferences .
Ok , maybe there aren’t the best outhere , but there is decent purchase for 2 spokeshaves and in my opinion there are above the average for sure .
If for your needs , the blade area will need an upgrade , you can change them and fit to the strong body , the blade you want .
I think these two is an “honest” buy as we say in Greece for the ammount of money you give and that’s why i recommend this to you .

For your traditional aura this wooden spokeshave from ZHONGJIUYUAN ( yes China i think ) , is very beautiful and to be honest whatever has wooden approach , i like it .
It’s super cheap ( 10$ – 15$ ) , of course a classic piece and it would be nice to have one in your toolbox to “drain” the energy from its wooden body .
