The wood shellac and the oils and waxes , must be the most ancient ways to preserve your wood and for sure there are very capable .
The wood shellac is made from the mixture of alcohol and the shellac flakes which is a resin made from a bug in India’s and Tailand’s forests .

So let’s see some of the most characteristic shellac products you can get outhere .
The Rust-Oleum Synthetic Shellac primer . ( white )
You cannot have only natural shellac flakes , but in our modern times , synthetic shellac exists and the Rust – Oleum , has a nice piece of that .
You cannot use it only as a primer , but as a finish too and it gives a nice matte finish result .
It’s a great sealer if your wood has knots , sap and a lot of tannins bleeding and the Rust – Oleum “guys” have tried for low odror .
You can use it to repair a damaged MDF maybe as an undercoat for your final coating . The coverage abilites are extra big .
If you make 2 -3 coats and use a light sandpaper , you’ll be amazed form the result . But if you like you can use it as a finishing . The color is white .

The Liberon Shellac filler sticks set of 3 (dark) .
If you have gaps , small or medium holes and in general your wooden surface needs some help , this set of 3 shellac sticks is a fine solution and the use is super easy .
Heat it a little to be more liquid and flexible , put it inside your craks – holes and after a while you’ll have avery strong and hard fixing to your minor error . You can use a heat gun , even a common lighter .
Then sand a little and you’re done .
The colors are mixable and you can use them in your kitchen’s boards , there’re food safe . It’s a nice helper to always have in your toolbox .
Make your final checkings , and take them from Amazon with 30$ bucks .
The Inoxia Shellac Flakes (orange, dewaxed) .
If you want and like to be more traditional and make your own shellac , these flakes would be ideal for the job .
They’re mixed with alcohol as a solvent , their softening point is in the 50o and their melting point in the 75o .
They have an orange – brown color the process isn’t a difficult one and if you go the the original post as i’ve told at the beginning , for the shellac you’ll see more .
The 500gr are at the 30$ and you can purchase them from Amazon here .
I don’t think in this area you should spend more money for the shellac type of finishing .
