The wood wax is a first class preservative – protector and finishing for any woodworking porject and if you can have and use pure one, even better .
It isn’t bad to use other than pure – beeswax . The modern companies outhere have some great wax combinations that work best with wood .
The detailed post for the wood wax as a finishing and preservative , is in HERE .
You can use it all alone as the final coat or you can mix it with oils and do “magic” for your wood . This mixing with oils “thing” , is my favorite procedure in woodworking .
So let me show you some very classical wax products from the markets .
The Renaissance Wax polish .
I don’t think that there is a person outhere , woodworker or not , who hasn’t seen this wax care inside in this so classical metal tin .
The Renaissance wax is maybe the most classical wax in the markets and its quality is above the criteria measures . It’s micro – crystalline wax and it’s suitable for many more materials than wood .
But for wood is a top wax also .
Hear only this : It;s originally made for the British Museum and its antiques in it , so you can imagine that the level is too high .
You use it as a last coat for your finishing and it creates a super strong film , to protect your precious woodcraft . If you try to find a bad word for it , you’ll be dissapointed .
This is the “king” of waxes . Take it from Amazon in here.
The E.J. Wheaton Microcrystalline Wax Polish .
Having the same approach and top quality as the previous one , his microcrystalline wax from E.J. Wheaton is a very top wax pick .
It protects very higly , it’s nice and creamy to apply and this is also a very trusted USA wax product . As the previous Renaissance , this is also picked from Musuems and elite organizations .
It requires a very small amount to do the job and it’s super cheap up to 10$ bucks .
If you want a Renaissance similar wax , take this from Amazon here .
The AMY HOWARD at home – Wood and Chalk Paint – Vintage and Antique .
If you have a chalk paint woodcraft or furniture which is a very modern style paint and you want a wax protection , this from Amy Howard is the tool for you .
I’ts made with extra creamy and easy applying approach and it’s best to protect creating a patina to your furniture .
Especially the chalk paint types of furniture , want and need this type of wax “as hell” .
It contains hard carnauba wax , beeswax in order ot give the maximum of strength to the film it makes above the wooden surface .
This is a must for chalk paint furniture and not only . Amazon has the rest in here .
If you want the Dark version with the above , having the same features , go to Amazon for this one .
The Lundmark Pure bee’s wax .
This 7 0z USA bar of pure beeswax , is a perfect choice if you want ot use it to your wood by mixing it with an oil ( i suggest linseed ) , with the Bain Marie method .
It’s very easy to do it , you put the wax into a metal can and you heat inside another tin with warm water . Then you mix it with your oil . The ratio is usually 6% – 7% – 8% for the wax .
To see more natural & chemical finishing combinations , go to THIS post of mine .
If you have 100gr of oil , you need 5 – 6 – 7 gr of wax , but you can make your adaptions as you like adding or reducing the wax .
This Lundmark is a top quality’s beeswax and and you can mix it or use as it is , directly to your wood to protect – finish it , with a cloth .
Go to Amazon for your purchase ( 10$ ) in here .
You antiques , your chalk paint wood , your outdoor and indoor woodcrafts , i think will be fully covered with some of the previous stuff and don’t forget to always experiment .
Keep woodworking and the happiness feeling will always be with you .
