Best woodworking Adzes , for green wood shaping .

If you’re a woodworker and you deal with green wood , you know for sure the necessity of the adzes and how smoothly , they shape wood and logs .

Even if it’s not a top priority ( maybe ) wood tool , having a couple of bowl adzes and a foot one , is a serious advantage to your tool “armory” .

See the extended post for the types of adzes and what they do , in HERE .

I have some nice buying options for you , most of them i’ve used in the past( not all mine ) and they served just fine .

First of all i like much , having a log peeler tool , to “clean” the trunk and have a clear field in front of me , if i want my trunk clean .

This Felled peeler is a very nice green wood tool , even if you may need to change maybe the handle , if you’re a big guy as i am .

it isn’t a very big one( 2″ width ) , but you don’t alays have gigantic logs – trunks to unpeel .

I only tighten the handle – metal connection with a screwdriver for bigger stabilty and that’s it . The steel alloy is good’s quality and have enough thickness .

The grip is ok and i think for a little more than 30$ is just fine . Get it from Amazon in here .

I don’t think that you should get too many or spend a fortune in here and if you can buy adzes in sets , is very cool and smart in my opinion . You save money most of the times .

This Mapsyst set of 3 bowl adzes will cover al of your needs . There’re small big straight curved ones and you’ll do the majority of your green wood shaping with them .

They have very good quality and finishing of the steel , as an old mapsyst a cousin had in the village and i had great experiences with it . There “sit” very good in the hand .

You’ll be amazed from the primary sharpening and during the use ( and abuse ) of how good they keep the sharpening .

They’re “fat steel” ones and this is a major thing for my preferences . Nice metallurgy for sure .

They’re in the top Lee Valley level and they don’t cost much . These are heavy – duty ones .

Take your final checkings and get them from Amazon here .

I think that if you close your adze set with this foot and very serious adze from the US , you’ll be complete and in my opinion you should not spend more in this area of green woodworking .

This Warwood light curved foot adze is a totally heavy – duty one and it’s an “old school” adze .

Elite carbon 1060 US steel , classic hard forged and simple design , unstoppable to any type of wood , to any type of hardness and difficulties .

Yuo won’t need anything else . Get it from the Amazon here .

That’s it . I don’t think that spending much in this area is necessary , except if you have some special slicing – chopping green wood needs .

A little oil and some wax for your metalic and your wooden handles will be ok for your adze’s maintenance .

See my best oils and wax equipment for this job , in HERE .

Never forget the often inspection for rust problems .

Keep woodworking and be always safe .
