Best Axes , for a complete woodworking set .( + accessories . )

The woodworking axe is a basic and necessary carpentry tool to cut – chop – split wood in a primary level and having a nice set of axes , is always helpful .

It’s an ancient hand tools , but without it , you can only “admire” your wood from a distance , not been able to bring it closer .

See the entire post with all the axe’s features – types , et.c and some tips , in HERE .

You can have some very cheap ones from the bazaars , et.c , but i’ll give you some of my favorite axes , to buy and have for many – many years with the right maintenance , of course .

Yes , they won’t be cheap , but they worth every penny .

For starters this Truper axe is a very good beginning axe point , for less than 50$ and it’s a single bit axe , having a 4lbs weight .

It’s very well made for its reasonable price , the wood is US hickory and as you see the design of the 35″ wooden handle is as it should , in order to give you comfort and safety .

Make your checks from Amazon if you like it in here .

This general purpose Husqvarna is a very nice traditional axe choice , with the known made in Germany quality and materials .

It’s a 1.250grams axe with a high quality alloy iron – steel made to easy sharpen and keep the sharpening for a long time .

It has an ash handle , it’s length is on 70cm and i think it’s a first class choice for a first general quality axe for all the woodworking jobs .

See the final details and get it from Amazon here .

This Gransfors Bruks , is an excellent choice for your fireplace wood splitting and i don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t know the Gransfors axes and quality .

Quality – quality – quality is the “name of the game” for the Gransfors and this 14.75″ axe isn’t an exception of course .

It is in the 1lbs weight area , very light and ergonomic , and hickory with best metals alloys are the elements it is made . It’s expensive , but Gransfors gives 20 years of guarantee !!!!!!

You’ll have it for the rest of your life and looking it from this point of view , it’s maybe cheap . The balance , the craftmanship and the feeling in you hands , is something you should feel to realize .

Get it from the Amazon , here . The leather sheath is included .

From the same company the Gransfors Bruk and of course with the same features , you can get a splitting axe – maul of 31.50″ and a 7lbs of weight .

The head weights only 5 1/2 lbs , but re-think before you doubt it . It’s designed to be “katana” for splitting .

This is a work of art and that’s why it’s an expensive axe . When you see and touch its steel , its sharpeness and the general feeling in your arms , you”ll revision many of your doubts .

Maybe you won’t use any other axe – maul in your life .

See its price and make your final buying decisions from Amazon here . The guarantee is the same of course , 20 years !!!!!!!!

The Ferrari of climbing axes ( and not only ) .

This Hultafors is the utimate axe in my opinion and the Ferrari of the axes , not that the Grunsfors Bruk and some others maybe , aren’t very good axes .

But , this is a very good axe and before you see its price ( 150$ ) and “feel a little strange” , let me tell you this .

The feeling , the steel , the sharpening and the craftsmanship of the very elite ( and expensive ) tools , is something you should feel , to understand .

The Amazon has it and if you can afford it , just get it and have it for the rest of your life .

Go to Amazon here .

A very helpful tol in order to split your wood is this firewood splitter from Kindling splitter company and it’s super easy to use it . You just put your log inside it , then you hit it with your maul , ot whatever you had and the job is done .

The quality of the cast iron is the appropriate one ( all these tool – helpers are heavy – duty ) and the only one you should be aware is that the inside ring’s diameter is 6.5″ , to adjust your logs .

Make your checkings and get it from Amazon here .
