In here and with this woodworking tool , you’ll need to be very carefull to its use and storage and zero tolerance to damages is required .
The dial and the digital calipers are extremely sensitive wod tools , so try while you use them and storage them to be very cautious . I have them always in their original storage boxes and in a seperate area in my toolbox , from the other carpentry tools .
In here the prices are kind of higher but be sure , that it worths 100% to have a couple of very good and precise calipers , for your measuring purposes . This approach has two major advantages :
1) Your measuring will be the precise in the highest grade .
2) If you be careful with your caliper’s storage and use , you won’t need to buy another one , for a longer time than a very cheap – basic one , you can buy in a market or wherever .

Yes , it may be not a highly expensive caliper but it gives you more properties than the bucks you pay for it .
What are the advantages of this Caliper :
1) It’s made from stainless steel and it locks in the position you want to measure .
2) It measures precise enough from 0 to 6 inches and the throlling mechanism is moving easy and smoothly enough .
3) It’s lightweight and it comes with a plastic case for your storage safety .
4) It’s easy to read and accurate enough for your basic woodworking measuring and you won’t have any serious theme .
5) It has maybe the Mitutoyo accuracy or close enough , even if the Mitutoyo feels better in your hands , some say .
6) It’s a great backup caliper .
What are the Disadvantages :
1) The woodworker should be very carefull , concerning the wood dust . It is very sensitive in wood dust and in dust in general .
2) As a low budget caliper it has some burrs issues , but not in any case a serious problem for your skin .
3) It doesn’t scroll as smooth as the more expensive – elite ones .
4) Sometimes you may need to re-adjust and re-lock your measuring , but not a big deal .

I cannot “tame” myself , i’m a big fun of the Mitutoyo measuring tools . This Mitutoyo caliper is a perfect example of a high’s quality and precision caliper and you can have it in Amazon here .
It has a 0-6″ measuring range and 0.001″ accuracy .
What are the advantages of this :
1) The design of the dial movement , the finishing in the sliding area ( and not only ) , and the general looks are from “another planet” . It’s like a jewel .
2) The caliper’s construction , accuracy and moving smoothness , is from “another planet” .
3) It zeroes out perfectly and immediately no matter how many times you’ll open and close the jaws . The repeated precision is a timeless Mitutoyo advantage , you can ask anyone who has experience with their calipers , tools in general .
4) The machining and the robustness of this jewel is beyond words . It’s very – very well made and it “shouts” that in any case .
What are the Disadvantages ?
What ? I can’t get any .

This is the “ultimate heavy duty beast” from Mitutoyo and words are maybe “cheap” to describe these so elite tool craftsmanship .
I don’t personally have one of this type ( it’s too expensive for me 170$ ) , but i’ve measured with many of this type of calipers , from friend carpenters .
Listen this : it has 4 digits/numbers accuracy after the zero dot !!!!!!! I suppose you can measure your head’s hait with big easiness .
The construction of it , its steel alloy , it’s locking screw mechanism and smoothness are “Ferrari style” and the sensation when you feel this types of tools in your hands , are unforgettable .
It’s very hard for any caliper to win this one .
If you can afford it , go to Amazon and make no second thoughts , in here .
I think that having one of the above calipers you’ll be fully covered ffrom all the price range and quality , i suppose .
