Best wood Rasps to shape your wood , easy and accurate .

The rasps we use in woodworking is a very helpful tool and after you get familiar with them , you’ll see that you can shape wooden surfaces , very fast , easy and accurate the same time .

The rasps isn’t a smoothing tool , it shapes wood only with a rough way and you should not confuse them with the files , because they look the same .

See the complete post for the rasps and some useful FAQs , in HERE .

I’ve used many rasp types and brands as you also i suppose , because they excist in all the wood toolboxes and warehouses and everybody has experience with them even for once in his life .

If you cannot have many rasps with you this style of multi-funtional ( and very smart approach ) rasps , are the exact you may need .

Having these 2 rasps in your pockets or wherever you can do all your woodworking shaping and be very flexible if you cannot have with you all the range of your tools or your toolbox .

They’re very well made from carbon hardened steel and they have the very impressive number 60 in the Rockwell hardness ranking list .

Rockwell measures hardness of metal , comparing with the hardest material on earth : the Diamond .

So these 2 rasps are a great and very comfortable solution . Their generic craftsmanship is very good and they cost around the 15$ bucks area .

Amazon has the rest i here .

The woodworker usually uses rasps around the 6 number of coarseness , but not only . I’ll give you some of my favorite ones and in this area the Nicholson rasps “dominates” and not by luck .

You’ll see that Nicholson aren’t cheap rasps and they are in the 20$ – 50$ bucks range , but they worth every penny .

You can have some cheap rasps from the flea markets or whatever , but these three , 8″ – 10″ – 14″ Nicholson rasps are a “must” in woodworking .

The quality of the steel and the sharpness of them is “legendary” and well known in the carpenters hangouts .

They remove wood like butter and with great control .

The first Nicholson is this 8″ and 3/4″ wide half round rasp , is perfect for smaller jobs and you can get in from the Amazon in here .

My second suggestion is this 10″ cabinet rasp from Nicholson , which is cone shaped to enter to more tight areas and it has single cut teeth in the edges for smoothing wood in some cases .

Yes , Nichoslon are expensive(this is a 50$ piece) if you compare them with the cheap rasps we all can find , but when you rasp your first time with them , you’ll see why they’re expensive .

Get this 10″ Nicholson from the Amazon here and amaze yourself .

My last rasp suggestion is this “monster” 14″ half round again rasp from Nicholson , with also single cut “teeth” in the edges for smoothness .

Get it from Amazon here .

I’m sure you have many types of rasps of any price range , so you’ll need some nice and handy handles in order to be more comfortable and safe while using them .

I don’t know for you , but when we talk for handles in woodworking my brain leads me to wooden handles , so look these 10 pieces set of wooden handles for your rasps .

They have the classic comfortable shape and the appropriate metal colar to keep the rasp steady .

Go to Amazon to get them .

All the rasps range from Amazon for you in here .
