If you want to rip – crosscut wooden boards and cut curves , the bandsaw is a column woodworking tool for the amateur or the most advanced carpenter .

Yes , you can do the job , using your rip hand saw , but if you have 20 – 30 wooden boards to rip , you’ll get sweaty a little(!) . If you have a health issue , this isn’t possible of course and the use of your bandsaw is proper .

It’s very capable even if it’s not an expensive one and it can cut 1/2″ width wooden boards and i can do it easily because it has the necessary power .

It needs electricity and it’s not portable , having 2.5amp power motor and it has a range of around the 1500RPM to the 2500RPM .

It’s a very “honest” buy for many wood crafts and if you cannot escalate to the higher prices , this is a very nice piece .

For small and medium woodworking jobs(6TPI “teeth”) in the 10″ bandsaw area , what will you need more ?

If you use your garage or something like that for your workshop , the mobile base is always welcomed . It maybe will take you a little time to set it up( the manual and instructions are very good ) , but you won’t have serious issues .

You’ll adjust the blade very easily( lubricate it of course ) and you’ll be satisfied from its quiet use and flawless operation , no matter how many years will pass .

The blade runs smoothly and can cut thicker wood than you think . 6″ maple , walnut and more will be a “piece of cake” .

Jet’s company quality is beyond words and if you ask an older woodworker , only good words will say for it . The motors are “beasts” .

This Grizzly “seats” at the top of the bandsaw “pyramid” and this isn’t by luck . Yes , it’s the most expensive piece ( 4000$ + ) , but if you can have it , don’t have second thoughts .

This bandsaw is a totally professional woodworking machine and it’s unstoppable .

Cast iron , iron , aluminum are the elite , mixture of top materials of this bandsaw “jewel” and what can i say more for this 5HP “beast” .

It’s heavy duty , it’s a powerful “beast” , it’s highly made and focused for precision “missions” , under any pressure , it’s magnifient made in the outside , as it is for the inside .

Nothing more from me in here and if you’re looking for disadvantages , you’ll search endlesly . If you can afford it , take it and you’ll have it till the “end of days” .

Bandsaw Blade Choices .

The blades that are coming along with your bandsaw aren’t maybe the “best in town” , it’s more likely to do the basic ripping and cuts .

For sure you’ll need some extra blades and around the 1/2 of an inch for the smaller – medium bandsaws and the 3/4 of an inch for the bigger ones , would be fine . We don’t want the clogging of the saw teeth .

If you can have carbon steel bandsaw blades ,even better , because they handle and operate in heat very nicely .

** Attention :  When changing a blade , the guide adjustment will need adjusting . Especially when changing from one width to another width .

Of course i always recommend to have an emergency safety paddle switch if your current bandsaw doesn’t have and this Powertec is a highly recomended . It works and fits to almost every power tool you may have ( table saws , bandsaws , et.c ) and it’s very easy to place it .
