How can you make the Simpler Table at home ? ( no fancy tools . )

I cannot hide my enthusiasm , concerning the process to make the simpler table at home , no matter if you have zero experience and only a couple of hand tools and only 10 nails .

Yes , i like the theory very much because above the theory we “step” and proceed to action , but when the time comes to make woodworking actions , it’s my favorite time .

The woodworking activity is a very “simple” for anyone to do so , but the same time it needs some knowledge you should have , in order to be a good carpenter , create nice woodworking projects and make the less mistakes possible .

My first woodworking project was a simple wooden stick and an outdoor bench like this one .

Having the same approach you can create a small or a bigger wood table as your first rookie plan and having it for many many years with you , to remind you the first days .

What simple woodworking tools , will i need to make this table ?

So to create your first and very simple table , you’ll need only :

1) A hand saw . See in HERE some top panel saw – backsaws , et.c and more to buy .

2) A tape meter .

3) A carpenter’s pencil , or just a simple one .

Some of my favorite pencils and lead holders to supply and mark wood , in HERE .

4) A level tool . ( if you cut the legs exactly the same you won’t need it . )

5) Some nails and screws . ( no more than 10!! )

6) A screwdriver and a metalic hammer .

7) A mallet .

What is the so simple process , to make this wooden table ?

**At the end of the process i’ll show my exact small primary table , having this approach .

1) Cut the exact dimensions you want for the upper surface of your table . Use your handsaw , your tape meter and your pensils to mark and measure the dimensions .

2) Cut the 4 “legs” of your table in the lengths you want , accordingly the height you want this table to have . Use again your handsaw , your pencil and your tape meter .

You’re ready to start assembling this simpler and basic wooden table .

3) Now you need to assemble – screw or pin your legs to the upper table’s surface . I know that you think that this isn’t easy , especially if you don’t have a workbench to place them and attach them more easily and having stability .

It’s not difficult to assemble the legs , even if you don’t have a workbench . I didn’t have a workbench and i had stabilization themes , till the total assemlbe of the 4 legs .

How i solve it , so you can do the same ?

a) I nailed – screwed the 4 screws or pins if you like to the 4 corners of the table , all the way so you can see their edges from the other side .

b) Then i turned the surface upside – down . Now you can see the nails edges , facing you .

c) Take the legs of the table , place them to the nails – screws edges and push them , to penetrate the nail – screw , a little . Hit the legs a little with your mallet to penetrate deeper as more as you can .

Do this in with an X row . Place the first leg , push it to the nail and then its opposite one .

If you want to use screws , place the legs on the screw edge and don’t push it , screw it , in order to penetrate the screw .

Now the legs are placed , you have a good stabilization level , so you can turn the table to stand in its legs .

d) The table can stand in its legs in a primary level of course and it isn’t fully stable . Take your metalic hammer and hit the nails to penetrate permanently to the legs(don’t hit the wood – only the nail ) , or your screwdriver and screw your screws .

That’s it . After the fully screwed or pegging of your nails , your table is ready and can stand all alone and stable .

e) In this level , your table can stand all alone , but it needs more stabilization actions . Measure and cut 4 extra wood slats and join the legs one to another , at the end of their lengths .

Now your small or bigger table , is fully stable and won’t shake at all . This is it . You made a table ( yes , a basic one ) , using only 8 – 10 pins or screws , 4 legs and a wooden surface and some very basic carpentry tools .

Nothing more , nothing fancy . Anybody can do this .

Keep woodworking , making advanced or basic wood plans and happiness is certain .
