What is the Easiest thing to make out of wood ? ( using only 1 tool – 0 nails , 0 screws , etc . )

The easiest thing you can make out of wood is for sure one of my favorite woodworking subjects , because it reminds me my first “early” days . Back then i thought that i have to be a very experienced woodworker in order to start this hobby and of course this isn’t true .

Anybody can start woodworking and if you want a reminder of the basic carpentry skills mentality , see it in HERE .

Many people think that in order to create astonishing and helpful woodworking projects , they can use in their daily lives , they need a great amount of carpentry machinery , but this isn’t totally correct .

Of course you can create wood plans using hand and power tools , but you can create projects using ONLY 1 wood tool !!!!

Yes , you can built very nice and useful wood projects , using only your hand saw and nothing more . No wood nails , no wood screws , no wood glue , no power tools at all , nothing .

So let’s start this list , using only your hand saw :

1) A Wooden Stick .

You can create a very nice wooden stick for your mountain – forest walks , by cutting a single tree branch with your hand saw . I like very much the wooden stick as a walk “helpers” and you don’t need anything else than your hand saw .

Cut it ( always asking for permission ) to your preferences , dry it correctly , use a little of linseed oil or a bees wax for protection and you’re ready .

2) A Wooden Ruler .

The approach in here is the same . Cut a small wood board to the dimensions you want your ruler to be , mark above it the cm – inches distances using a color pencil and this is it .

Ok , maybe it won’t be as perfect finishing as the ones you can find in the stores , but it would be a very “decent” ruler making the job it should make .

3) A wooden Address sign .

Cut your wooden board to the dimensions you like with your hand saw , write above it your home’s address and the sign is ready . This sign will be in the outside so it’ll need some protection for the weather conditions .

See in HERE all the possible ways for wood protection .

4) A Wooden Swing .

Cut your wood board to the dimension you like for a convenient swing seat , make some notches for the rope , find a nice tree trunk to “hung” the swing and you’re ready .

No other tool than your hand saw is needed .

5) Kitchen Cutting Boards , made from Wood .

Choose the wood you like for your kitchen board ( mostly oak , pine , maple , spruce ) , cut the board in the size you want and your kitchen cutting board , is ready .

Be careful in here and have a specific cutting board for your chicken only and another one seperate for the other cuts . You don’t want salmonella’s health problems .

6) Wooden Kitchen boards , to place your hot pans , etc. .

If you don’t want your kitchen’s bench to get damaged from the very hot pans , pots , etc , the use of a protecting board is a must and the wooden ones , are just fine .

7) Wooden outdoor Footsteps .

Before you get inside your house , the flick , cleaning of your shoes is a nice thing and why not to do that , above a selfmade wooden footstep . Cut a wooden board , make some notches for the shoes flick – cleaning and you’re ready .

8) Wooden Arrows , for showing directions .

You can make very beatiful wooden arrow direction indicators , for the outdoor and your indoor needs , very easily and eco – friendly . Don’t use plastic , etc , ones . Make your own indicators , with your hand saw only and a color marker maybe .

9) Soap Holders .

Why have a soap holder made from plastic and not form your favorite wood piece ? For sure it’ll be more healthy and “warm” for your senses . Wood gives warmth as no other material .

10) Log seats and basic benches , for Indoor – Outdoor use .

In here you’ll get more “sweaty” , in order to cut the entire log using your hand saw only , but take it , step by step and make longer brakes for rest . The seats made by logs is a very attractive design and can fit to any place , to any house .

11) Book and Tablet stands .

If you have two wooden boards , make a notch to the one board so the other board can “penetrate” it and make something like this : ( L ) and reverse it , you can put your book on it , or your tablet to read in an angle .

12) Wooden Dices and Dominoes .

Cut wooden cubes in the dimensions you like , use a marker to make the numbers and your dices are ready . If you choose a wood type that smells nice( cedar , eucalyptus , etc ) , your house atmosphere will smell nice “eternally” .

You can do the same for the dominoes .

13) Woodworking Square tools .

You can create your own carpentry squares , by cutting them in any size you like from a solid wooden board with your saw , in the shape of this : L , of course . Be careful to mark the board totally vertically , so your square would be correct for use .

14) A Fishing Rod , from Bamboo Wood .

It would be kind of a “primitive” fishing rod , but you can do the “job” by cutting a nice bamboo , to the size you like .

15) A Pizza “shovel” .

A pizza shovel , don’t always need to be circular . You can make it , by cutting a square wood board and “jam” it to a wooden stick , or cut it as one , solid piece from your board .

16) Wooden Stop Wedges for your doors .

You can create very nice wedges for your home’s doors , by wood and by only your hand saw .

17) Wood Wedges , for your tree -log cuttings .

When you cut your logs into smalller ones , or you cut them vertically , you need a wedge as a helper to split the wood targeting its weakest fibers and also , avoid the blocking of your saw blade inside the gap .

The wedge keeps the gap open and you can finish your sut effectively . The same applies for your tree cuttings . You can make these wedges from wood pieces in any thickness you like .

If you want to check the prices and buy some very nice splitting wedges , go in HERE .

18) Make your Own Woodworking Straightedge .

This another woodworking tool , you can create , using only your hand saw . When you want to check the faces and the edges of your wooden boards concerning the flatness , you use the straightedge tool .

It’s very easy to make a straight edge , especially if you have a nice quarted sawn piece of wood girder . If this girder is from hard wood , it’s better because it’ll be more solid and strong .

Pass your wood girder across to your power joinder , if needed and your straightedge will be perfectly squared , all the times .

If you want to buy some nice straightedge for your flatness , i’ve picked some for you , in HERE .

As you see you can do so many woodworking projects using only your hand saw , some rope and creating some notches to your wood boards – pieces to combine and join them . Nothing more .

You can do carpentry tools and so many daily useful stuff .
