What is the most Useful woodworking tool , for a Pro or Not , carpenter ?

I’m sure that you shouldn’t have to be a professional carpenter or someone with elite knowledge , in order to have this very significant question .

Who hasn’t played with wooden toys , self-made or bought ones , when he was a small kid , outside of his home with the other small kids ?

Who hasn’t made and catch a wooden stick , taken from the nearest olive oil tree , pine tree or whatever else ?

So no matter who you are and from where you are , you have “met” wood and you know what wood is .

We have 2 types of carpenters , concerning their experience and general needs , in woodworking :

1) The hobbyist – amateur , woodworker .

The most useful woodworking tool , for the amateur woodworker is the panel hand saw ( and some foldings maybe ) , which is the most “common” hand saw , all people have in their warehouses . The panel hand saw gives you the ability to make your first – basic wood design cuttings , with easiness .

See the best panel saws – backsaws & more suggestions , in HERE .

2) The professional woodworker .

For the professional woodworker and his pro needs , the table saw is the most useful tool , because you can do your first – basic wood cuttings – shaping and then a variety of other cuts , not only ripping boards with the table saw , if you have no other cutting tool , but you need to do the “job”.

See some of my personal table saw suggestions for you , in HERE .

Why they need different primary – basic woodworking tools ?

The amateur and the professional woodworker have different needs and wood crafts to create , that’s why they need , different tools as their primary , most useful and basic ones .

The amateur carpenter usually doesn’t start his wood “journey” having very expensive power tools and he begins with some basic hand ones . Later he starts to collect his power ones and become more professional concerning his creations .

So it’s kind of rare to see a completely amateur carpenter having and using a table saw , or a miter saw or generally power tools . The power tools use , need more experience and confidence from the woodworker’s side .

If you want to see the list for your power tools , see it in HERE .

Your Hand Saw , should be a Large or a Small one ?

Your hand saw , can be a “normal” size hand saw , all the houses have and we all see even once in our life . I suggest you to purchase a medium size panel hand saw with medium TPI( teeth per inch) , in order to be able to cut , many sizes wood pieces .

Logs , boards , trunks , et.c .

If your plans are big ones , ok you’ll need more big sized hand saws and as you may know , you can have hand saws which can cut entire tree , but i suppose you won’t need this kind of hand saws for your first woodworking steps .

Your professional table saw , should be an Expensive or a Cheaper one ?

My suggestion if you’re a professional woodworker is to have the best table saw , you can possible purchase and i suppose this means that this table saw , will expensive .

I have this mentality for all your tools and of course i suggest you to buy the best possible table saw you can .

You’ll avoid mechanical problems in hard use and this best – expensive table saw will assist you the most , when you have to deal with tough jobs continuously , hard wood to cut and square , et.c , with zero overheating and zero wheel adjustments themes .

Where can you Storage your handsaws , with safety ?

Hung” them by a pin in your warehouse’s wall , alone and away from the dangers . You can also put your several hand saws in a straight line on your wall with the help of a frame and they’ll be ok from any danger .

I suppose you’ve seen the saws “hunging” on the walls when you go to a carpenter’s shop and you thought that the carpenter has put them , by luck in this way ?

Nothing is made by luck in our woodworking hobby – way of life .
