Let’s say that you don’t know anything about the woodworking way of life . Let’s say that you don’t know and you have no idea about the carpentry activity .
Let’s assume that you are a total “stranger” to this activity , but you fell in love with the wood and you want to start woodworking .
The woodworking tools are the absolute necessary equipment the human beings need , in order to chop – cut – measure – drill – connect – shape , finish and protect the basic material of this hobby , the wood . They are the absolute necessary technical machinery for the wood you should have , in order to act with wood in every level .
They are the wood machinery you’ll need to proceed from the stage of the primary , “raw” tree you see in nature , to the stage of creating your own woodcraft .
Without the woodworking tools , you cannot do anything and act with wood .
Without the woodworking tools , there is no way you can separate – cut a wooden piece from the tree .
Without the wood tools , the only thing you can do is just walk inside the forest , spot your tree – log – branch and after the appropriate licences to cut them , you won’t be able to do so .
Without the wood tools , the only “thing” you’ll be able to do , is to only watch from far your wood piece .
Tools Mindset – little “secrets” to help you accomplish your Woodworking Projects .
In my opinion you cannot start an activity in any area , wanted to be good at it and choose to learn the more advanced , before the basics . The basic knowledge you’ll learn in your first steps , you’ll never forget it .
The human brain is “designed” to never forget the basics during the first stages of the learning process . I’ve written a post explaining the learning process and mindset of a woodworker , read it in HERE .
So after your first basic knowledge you should collect , you should proceed to buy and supply some woodworking tools .
At your first stages you it isn’t necessary to give “tons” of money for your tools . Some basic hand tools and power ones would be fine . I strongly suggest to combine these 2 tools categories .
No matter how good and experiened you’re you should have in mind that the hand tools fulfill the power tools and vice versa .
The complete woodworking tools list for an amateur to a professional , is HERE .
Some extra little “secrets” :
1) Dry you wood correctly .
2) Don’t start creating anything before you’re sure for the absence of wood bugs – fungi in your wood . If you have bug-fungi problems , solve them with the proper medicines and only then proceed to your woodworking project .
3) The correct wood measuring is “half the job” . If you measure wrong your project will be wrong and awry . Take your time .
See my top divider suggestions for you in HERE .
4) Count your wood supplies in a piece of paper . You don’t want to spend unnecessary money .
5) Start with the basics and escalate to more complex wood plans .
6) Don’t store your hand saws with your other tools . The “hits” will bent their teeth . Store them from a pin in your wall alone . Never “hit” your wood with metalic hammers , only mallets and rubber hammers .
See my favorite panel saw & more buiyng saws in HERE .
7) The finishing with crust varnishes have advantages and serious disadvantages . It isn’t an “immortal” way to protect your wood . Moisture can pass the super tine gaps in the crust’s surface .
8) There are many finishing – protecting ways for your wood with advantages & disadvantages . Deside what you want and proceed .
If you want wood protection using less chemical products , i suggest go and buy oils & waxes , HERE .
9) Before you make your final actions on wood project , experiment to a same piece of wood you aren’t going to use .
9) It isn’t a shame to ask the more experienced , in order to learn . Remember that the champions , were competitors once .
Keep woodworking and gain happiness from it .
